Trogir – the most beautiful island city in the world

Trogir is a triple E city – enjoy, explore and experience! The city is tucked between the island of Čiovo and the land, just large enough to be amused and just small enough to be relaxed.

The most beautiful island city by National Geographic  attracts thousands of tourists every year with its beauty and incredible history.

Superb architecture, centuries-old streets and the recognizable spirit of the local population really make this city enchanting. True magic starts when you get to the main square with a Cathedral of St. Lawrence, which is definitely one of the most beautiful ever seen in this part of Europe. Amazing three-nave basilica with spectacular Radovan’s portal really makes you think about the art and the incredible talent of top stonemasons of the past times.

Another interesting attraction in Trogir is the picturesque bell tower of the church Sv. Sebastijana and the adjacent City Loggia. Both were built between the 14th and 15th centuries. The bell tower, which dates back to 1422, is the only thing of the Sv. Sebastijana that still remains.

City Loggia used to be a place to hold court trials and important meetings, and today you can enjoy a spectacular Klapa singing – traditional dalmatian singing. The word klapa translates as “a group of friends” and traces its roots to littoral church singing.

In the heart of the city you can just explore by yourself, enjoying numerous restaurants, shops  lined up in the narrow streets and having some really good coffee (Croatia is famous for that) on the little, romantic squares of Trogir.

Don’ t forget to walk down the famous promenade  in front of the old town with a beautiful view of the Adriatic.  Sunday coffee, relaxation and a view is something to enjoy.

One of the most beautiful sights is definitely the Kamerlengo fortress with the St. Marco Tower. It was built in the 15th century and is located at the end of the waterfront. Climb up and take some memorable photos from the high walls of the fortress. If you are in Trogir in summer, this is the best possible open-air stage for a great number of concerts, theater plays and stand up comedy performances.
